My Granny and Pop taught me how to cook with love. We would go to their house in the Derbyshire countryside and pick runner beans tomatoes, courgettes. We would dig potatoes from the garden. It made me feel like an evacuee, escaping from the city.

We liked to make pancakes. We gave my Pop the ones that we dropped on the floor, and we never told him.
